The main foci of research in CAMEROlabs, directed by Dr. Julia Totosy de Zepetnek, are understanding the consequences of various nutrient and exercise loads on cardiometabolic health, fitness, food intake regulation and appetite sensitivity, as well as the role of the gut microbiota in health and in metabolic dysfunction (e.g., Type 2 Diabetes). The current goals of CAMEROlabs research are to: 1) gain a better understanding of the pathophysiology of disease (e.g., Type 2 Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis), 2) determine the feasibility and efficacy of chronic disease management from both a lifestyle and pharmacological approach, and 3) explore factors associated with healthy aging, in the absence of disease.
